What fun, colorful stuff!!! Suggestion I learned from another YTV crafter: In order to avoid the possibility of contaminating the paste with the naturally occurring oils on my fingers, I use a spatula to put some paste on the craft mat then dip my fingers into that puddle rather than into the jar or the lid. Weird stuff can grow over the life of the paste just from the oil and skin particles from our fingers.
Hi. Thanks, that's good to know. I usually wrap my fingers in cling film these days because I've used pots of stuff before only to find that no amount of scrubbing or wiping with cleaners, soaps, potions and lotions shifts it. Definitely a case of 'once bitten, twice shy' as they say.
I usually go the other extreme on new products. When I got my first lunar pastes, I looked up a number of RUclips videos on "how to use" -- many by Simon Hurley. The problem is, I see so much good stuff, and so many options, that even though I purchased them months ago, I haven't opened the 1st jar. I keep watching posts & demos to make sure I get it right -- and never put the info to use. Thank you for presenting a "just do it" option. I appreciate your being relateable.
oh,Cathy, You've done it again. I always love your videos. I have determined we have the same sense of humor so I laugh but not at you. I am a ninety-one year old lady. I am about ready to try my lunar paste but l've told my great grandchildren there is a cache of crafts waiting for them. They seem to love it.
I love this video. It's like watching myself craft, only I use more bad words 🤣I swear I hear you say "aaaand" while I'm creating (and I whisper to myself a lot more than I care to admit). Making the berries with two different mediums really added a fun aspect. Thanks for showing us that YT creators aren't perfect, especially the first time they use a product.
I love to see you learning and teaching us along the way! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who messes up and there is beauty in imperfection. Thank you 😊
Hi. Thank you for sharing your experiments and experiences, I have some of these pots of shiny stuff on it's way to me and it's nice to have a bit of a heads up beforehand. I love the black background floral card, it's beautiful and makes me think of old Gypsy paintings.
It seems so simple to say, you got to be gentle on yourself, especially when trying something new. I’m proud of you! I know you make cards that are clean and simple, so messy is probably not in your comfort zone. It’s just paper! We just need to be kind to ourselves as well as others. Thanks for being ‘real’ with us!
That was quite the wild for sure! But boy, was it fun. Both cards are shiny and bright, I love them 😍. That Simon Hurley, he's going places .Thanks for the share. Look forward to your next card sesh 👉
So glad I found this video. I'm fairly new to cardmaking and recently tried Lunar Paste. To say I wasn't pleased with the results would be an understatement, but you've inspired me to try again. Thank you!
Oh my gosh Kathy I love you. I love that you just wing it and show that the pros really do practice ALOT to make it look easy. Thanks for keeping it real. I've been wanting to get these so thanks for showing us that they are gorgeous and that you can just play until you get the hang of it. xx
I don't know how Simon Hurley is able to get his lunar paste perfectly on the flowers. I've tried and mine looks like a "hot mess". Thanks for sharing and letting us know it's OK when things aren't perfect.
😂🤩Thank you girl for giving me a good laugh! I don´t like getting my finger tips too messy so I felt your hesitation there ... 😊 The cards are beautiful. 😊
My lesson for the day: Never Ever drink anything, especially HOT COFFEE!!!, when I am watching a Cathy Z video! I snort laughed it right out my nose! LMAO...So glad to see I am not the only one who messes up! I do LOVE Simon's Lunar Paste..it kicks ass! And so do you!💜😆💜😆💜
Love your work, stay for the personality! Thanks for showing us that you also make mistakes. As for the nail polish, did you put a clear coat over it? That can help prevent transfer.
I did! And I have used the brand exclusively for six months… but, this is the first time I've ever tried a shimmer. I usually am a creme polish kind of girl
New products can be challenging the first time trying them. This video was so me using new products. We just have to be nice to ourselves love that shine!💚
You are so fresh Cathy Zielske!! Hilarious and so fun to watch. I have never used Lunar Paste before either but you make me want to pick up a few colours. Love the Ivy, great job!!
Great video, definitely had me laughing, in a good way. Not at you but with you 😊 I just watched one of Simon’s videos and his BIG tip is to put a thin amount on your finger when going over embossing. Because you are just trying to touch the top of the embossing. Hope this is helpful. I just realized that you probably didn’t need to mask off the berries when you were coloring the leaves. Once the Game Over was added, you’d never know it was green underneath since the Lunar Paste is opaque. Right? I think that’s right 😊
I have found that some embossing folders within brand need different shims and plates. I had three different 3D embossing folders from one lovely brand out yesterday: one leafy background, one geometric one, and one stand alone floral spray one. In my hand they look to be the same thickness. On my handcrank machine one needed tab 1 and 2 and a cutting plate, one needed tab 1 with 2 cutting plates, one needed tab 1 and one plate. All different, all 3D folders from one brand 😶 I keep post-its with the setup required with each plate. Also, most of my paperwork is covered in nail polish marks!
Cathy watching you struggle with the Gemini I wanted to tap you on the shoulder and remind you of the embossing mat that came with your Gemini. Watching you is such great joy. Like we would probably never stop giggling together if I were lucky enough to craft with you in person. Silly, but it just feels like we would be great friends. I’m sure others feel that way too. Oh, and I LOVE the nail polish!
Love the layered holly! Thanks for playing with something new for you.. for us. 😄 Love “real world”. I might out to try a few paste with my peppermint stencil. See what happens.. might be a big mess. Fun times. ☺️ Where to start.
Cathy, the end results were great. I did find the bloopers amusing. i've had many crafting sessions like this. If one thing went wrong everything did. All is well that ends well.
I learned a trick from Therese Calvird from lost in paper. She cuts a frame template in different sizes from paper and places it over her design to decide where to crop it. It takes the guess work out of figuring out your placement. I learn so much from you I thought I would pass this along.
I find the easiest way to learn how to use any new craft item is to just "play" with it. I don't try to make it pretty, I just play and see what happens. It takes a lot of stress out of learning a new product or method.
Cathy , your card’s turned out smashing! I tried the Luna paste a few weeks ago after watching Simon demonstrate how to use it on black cardstock. It’s gorgeous with the gold run over an embossed image. Stunning. For a Christmas card. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful day. Keep warm.❤️🎄⛄️🎄⛄️🎄⛄️🧣☕️
You did very well. I've used this paste several times and I love it. I've learned that if you need to dry your piece use your heater tool. Love your videos.
I have not used Lunar paste yet but will order some and try it out. I like that you do not need to be perfect with the new medium. Those were beautiful cards!

I needed that laugh today lol. If were extroverts that lived closer, we could be friends LOL. (I would have had to bleep myself as well) Why is it one small glitch starts an avalanche lol. Cards turned out great. Loving the look of Luna Paste.
Fun stuff! I know I want to try some glitter paste in the future, not sure yet on the lunar paste. I do many ooops myself, I tell myself I’m a goofneramous when I do. 😂😊❤️🇨🇦
Never have or er either. Buy I bought all the colors I want so I can try someday! I did paste with a stencil only once and blended 3 colors for my leaf Thanksgiving card and I just LOVED it!!! I had an 8x8” or 9x9” baking pan with soapy water on it and laid it on the very end of a towel to my right. I did 14. So when I needed the stencil again I took it out and dried it with the towel that was hanging out from under the pan. Worked great!even for slimline!
Dear Cathy, I am (as always!) very much enjoying your video - as it reflects EXACTLY my experience and my thoughts trying to use Lunar Paste („I don‘t know how Simon makes it loo so magical“ LOL). Now come on now Cathy, it doesn't look "mucky" it looks "artsy"!!!! Two beautiful cards. As always, thanks for sharing your creativity and sense of humor, always a pleasure to watch. You've inspired me to break out my lunar paste I got from the C&C event, as I have not had time to play with it yet. Between your instruction and Simon's as well, perhaps I'll get a little "artsy" too!!! 🥰

I love your bloopers and appreciate that you don't get rid of them when you edit, because we actually learn from them ♡ thank you Cathy Z
I love you ability to show us not everything is perfect the first time.
Beautiful cards! I think I have been going too thick with my Lunar paste. You have inspired me to try it again.
You give the rest of us comfort in accepting mistakes.
oh,Cathy, You've done it again. I always love your videos. I have determined we have the same sense of humor so I laugh but not at you. I am a ninety-one year old lady. Lol, relatable
I love how you show the things that don’t work, you make me feel like I don’t have to be perfect all the time. I love your work. 🥰💕
I'm so glad!
I need friends who send me Lunar Paste! 😉 Crafting is sort of like gardening: I'll try it and see what grows. 🤷♀️😂
I love to see you learning and teaching us along the way! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who messes up and there is beauty in imperfection. Thank you 😊
Yep, I still mess up a lot!
This was a wonderful reminder that learning something new takes practice, and I love how you gave yourself grace and persevered. Thanks Cathy.

Oh, did Simon die cut one of those embossing lunar paste videos? Your cards still look great, even with misadventures!
Thank you so much!
What a great idea, just adding a bit of the lunar paste here and there, fab cards Cathy
I would take the paste an apply to card stock and then take a small paper punch and punch out red dots for the berries . That would be fun too.
Oh yes it would!
That was quite the wild for sure! But boy, was it fun. Both cards are shiny and bright, I love them 😍. That Simon Hurley, he's going places .Thanks for the share. Look forward to your next card sesh 👉

Awesome cards! I had the same reaction the first time but it has fabulous results! That learning curve thing!!!😂
I don't know how Simon Hurley is able to get his lunar paste perfectly on the flowers. I've tried and mine looks like a "hot mess". Thanks for sharing and letting us know it's OK when things aren't perfect.
He has tiny fingers.
The holly card is stunning!
Cathy, you have me laughing so hard I’m crying! You are fabulous!
Yay!
Loved the “just own it!” Made me giggle!
Thanks for sharing your trials and errors in your process creating a card.
Love these pastes, your holly card is spectacular
😂🤩Thank you girl for giving me a good laugh! I don´t like getting my finger tips too messy so I felt your hesitation there ... 😊 The cards are beautiful. 😊

I love the imperfections, makes the floral card special. I think they are beautiful! I’ll have to try the Lunar paste.
These cards came out great Cathy, I love the shimmer & dimension! Thanks so much for sharing your Lunar Paste journey! Sending blessings & hugs!!!
Love lunar paste. I use them on embossed florals. Just gives such glorious color!
Love your work, stay for the personality! Thanks for showing us that you also make mistakes.

I did! And I have used the brand exclusively for six months… but, this is the first time I've ever tried a shimmer. I usually am a creme polish kind of girl
Those cards are cool. The paste looks like fun. Nice job!
Mistakes in the teaching and counseling world are referred to teachable moments. ❤
New products can be challenging the first time trying them. This video was so me using new products. We just have to be nice to ourselves love that shine!💚
They look beautiful 🥰
Thanks so much for sharing your ‘learning curve’ with us! It makes me feel less intimidated to try the product!!!!

Very pretty cards Cathy
I am in love with Lunar Paste! The shimmer is amazing. You did great!! I love that we got to see the fumbles with the perfection.
Hahahahah “flippity jibbit” love it
Great video, definitely had me laughing, in a good way. Not at you but with you 😊

I've never tried using it! lol! Maybe I should bust it out?
Love how the second card turned out! The wider frame really set off the Holly and adding only a small amount of lunar paste was perfect.
I enjoyed this video Cathy. Love your nail polish color ❤
I was laughing so hard my husband came in to see why. I love you! So much fun - thank you ❤️
NICE!!! I think this will be a product I really need. Thank you
Love the layered holly! Thanks for playing with something new for you.. for us. 😄 Love “real world”.

Cathy, the end results were great. I did find the bloopers amusing. i've had many crafting sessions like this. If one thing went wrong everything did. All is well that ends well.
Lunar paste is very beautiful on that black cardstock. The holly looks beautiful also.
Thank you Cathy, you're so fun and a great crafter
Thank you so much!

Oh, that IS a good tip!
Love your tutorial and your grace!!!
Love the video! ❤I’m cracking up AND learning! I found I was using too much and once I edited some of the paste the results were fabulous!
Love the way that Holly card turned out!!! That more subtle shine is definitely more to my liking than sequins, for some reason 😊😊😊
They turned out beautifully . Was such a fun video . TFS 💕💕
So nice even the one with Lunar Paste.... very nice!!!! 😁
They turned out very cute.
Would love to see you and Simon create with the pastes!!
Lunar pastes are SO versatile! I now have them all and reach for them frequently. A really terrific product. 😀
I so like your style and since of humor,! I had the exact same thing with applying the paste with my finger lol.
I find the easiest way to learn how to use any new craft item is to just "play" with it. I don't try to make it pretty, I just play and see what happens. It takes a lot of stress out of learning a new product or method.
I really like your nail polish and your beautiful cards.
Thank you so much!
First card looks like an oil painting.❤
My first attempt with lunar paste was messy, but it gets better. Less is more
Love! My favorite is the Holly Card. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing your crafting adventure with us, it’s inspiring!
Thanks a lot, Cathy! Now I’m going to have to try Lunar Paste.
You did very well. I've used this paste several times and I love it. I've learned that if you need to dry your piece use your heater tool. Love your videos.
Good to know!
I'm definitely someone who doesn't like to get 'inky' fingers (wrong hobby... but hmmmm) I totally enjoyed seeing your lunar paste journey!
I just bought them too and I’m laughing because I had the exact reaction with using the lunar paste on the embossed card stock.
An accidental masterpiece, beautiful card!
I have not used Lunar paste yet but will order some and try it out. I like that you do not need to be perfect with the new medium. Those were beautiful cards!
Your videos bring me joy! 😂. I’m just starting down the card making road after years of soap making. Love your cards ❤
Have fun!
Loved both cards. You are awesome ❤
That paste is really pretty
They are pretty. I seen someone use a paint brushand it looked great
Love the card as always 😊 And seeing the process. 😁

I like card #1... that sure looks great on dark/ black
I needed that laugh today lol. If were extroverts that lived closer, we could be friends LOL. (I would have had to bleep myself as well) Why is it one small glitch starts an avalanche lol. Cards turned out great. Loving the look of Luna Paste.
Love the card❤
Cathy, your cards are gorgeous!
Fun stuff! I know I want to try some glitter paste in the future, not sure yet on the lunar paste. I do many ooops myself, I tell myself I’m a goofneramous when I do. 😂😊❤️🇨🇦
Now I gotta go buy lunar paste! Love you Cathy! Thanks for sharing!
While I love watching you, this is TMW (too much work) for me. I will live vicariously through you and your videos. Thanks for making them.
Never have or er either. Buy I bought all the colors I want so I can try someday! I did paste with a stencil only once and blended 3 colors for my leaf Thanksgiving card and I just LOVED it!!! Dear Cathy, I am (as always!) very much enjoying your video - as it reflects EXACTLY my experience and my thoughts trying to use Lunar Paste („I don‘t know how Simon makes it loo so magical“ LOL). Maybe he has smaller fingers ?! I am also of the pretty hot mess persuasion, I am afraid - and not much has changed with practice. Thank you for your creativity and inspiration (not to mention Comfort 😂) as well as your highly entertaining videos. Kind regards from Germany, Nicola
Pretty cards !
Yes! Bust that out!
I go through the same thing with the embossing folders LOL thanks for video
I think the 1st card would have looked great with the gold lunar paste on the black cardstock. I havent tried blending the colors just monochromatic backgrounds with my lunar paste. I did love the holly card though!
Natasha Foote uses the gold one all the time sometimes with a makeup sponge but I’m still not convinced to add it to my stash. And nope on using fingers lol. Thank you for your bravery though! 😅
I like you style your real. We all make mistakes on our cards.
Thank you for a fun video. I like how you leave the mistakes in too. By the way, I just watched Kristina Werner's holiday card video for today and she recommended thin foam strips from Waffle Flower. She has also been on the hunt for something since Darice quit making them.
I think i have some somewhere!
I do! I just found them!
I’m laughing because right before you said it is kinda a hot mess, I was thinking if we were friends and crafting together I would be laughing at you and telling you that you are creating a hot mess! Of course, sometime though out the day, you would be laughing and telling me the same 😂🤣😅
Totally!
